34 Months
Can occasionally make Luke laugh. Looking forward to Easter Bunny bringing treats. Likes to pick things up with her toes (like Daddy).  Can now distinguish boys vs. girls, but still has trouble with pronouns (just like Elmo). Knows her 3rd birthday is May 28th. Finally got the toy umbrella she has been asking for. Loves it! See pics in gallery. Big setback in potty training - bout of constipation causes pain & fear. Back to diapers until situation softens. Simple pleasure - peeling bananas by herself. Asking questions "what is that?" and "what is it for?" particularly when Mommy is changing Luke's diaper (parents need to huddle to decide extent of answers to be provided).
33 Months
Yellow Letter Day: Big potty breakthrough! Often spends entire day wearing big kid underwear and has few accidents. Has long been able to identify shapes, but now can explain number of sides & corners in each. Joined mommy in tours of several pre-schools, in anticipation of September enrollment. Likes her boo-boos kissed. Can articulate emotions ("Gracie is sad/angry/happy"). Went to Long Beach Acquarium with Omi & Opi. Loved it! Now reads brochure every day and can identify myriad sea creatures.
32 Months
Well check - height 37", weight 30.5 lbs. First doctor visit without screaming! (earned her lollipop today). Favorite thing to do is look at photo cards saved from Christmas and identify all 100+ people. Phase of being disinterested in books is over. Now loves every book in sight. Memorizes dialogue from books and can "read" some books by herself. Getting used to having Luke around. Asks about him when he isn't in the room, shares toys (on her terms) with him. Still not too interested in potty. Starting to pretend in her play.  She can recognize patterns and answer "what comes next?". For her age, Grace is a terrific eater. Likes nearly everything and seems to really enjoy mealtime, particularly dining out with Mommy.
31 Months
Asks "Where'd mommy/daddy go" when either is out of sight. Graduated from high chair to booster chair. Becoming slightly interested in potty training, but results are hit & miss (literally). Jealousy causes acting out & more time outs, which she doesn't like. Developing many fears, particularly of men who are not daddy or Opi (daddy hopes this goes away soon but returns when she is 15).
12/25/2008
Loved Christmas, exclaimed "that's a lot of presents" over and over when she first encountered the results of Santa's visit.
30 Months
Excited for Santa to come, saying "Santa brings presents to you." Loves for Daddy to swing her high "in the sky." Has become Daddy's personal trainer, assisting with pushups (riding on his back), situps (sitting on his knees) and jumping jacks (jumping around like crazy). Folds hands every night to say "God Bless" prayers and for grace at dinner. Does the Sign of the Cross afterwards. LOVES her snail puzzle from Grandma Friedl. Starting beginning reading books, identifying simple words like Mat, Sam, dog & cat. Says "oh wow" often.  Eager to 'show Daddy' everything.
29 Months
Went to Omi & Opi's for an entire week during Luke's stay in the hospital. She had a blast, but Mommy & Daddy really missed her. Omi & Opi had a blast, too, but needed a vacation to recuperate. Says "spill up" instead of "spit up." Exclaims "that's really tasty" when she likes something. Learning German words in books from Opi. (cue for Daddy to start studying German vocabulary). Using lots of adjectives, such as beautiful, silly, big, gorgeous, pretty, little. Can repeat anything you say to her. Has learned where her brain, heart, heel, kidneys & wrist are.
28 Months
Points to her throat, gestures up and down and announces "esophagus." (what other body parts is Opi teaching her?). She is amazing with directions - identifies landmarks and proclaims where she thinks she is headed. Learning to play hide-and-seek, mostly with Omi. Loves to play rough with Daddy by pouncing on him unannounced. Uses "the more" when she means "another", as in "Mommy, may I have the more cookie please?" Loves to watch TV in "the bucket", which is formed by Daddy's legs on the couch. Asks, "What are you saying about?" often.  Getting curls at the end of her hair.
28 Months
Can count to 39.  Insists "Gracie do it" for many things. First attempts at discipline meet with mixed results, "timeout is fun" is not intended reaction. Greets brother with hearty "Hi Lukey Boy" every morning. Tries to be helpful - puts Luke's binky or bottle into his mouth whether he wants it or not. Doesn't like to share daddy with brother, shouting "give it to Mommy" whenever daddy is holding Luke.
27 Months

Also, "Lukey haves a poo poo" when mommy changes his dirty diaper. Uses manners, asking "may I have the cookie (or whatever)," before helping herself to what she wants. Does alphabet puzzle and exclaims "I is for bug" instead of insect. Also says "Oh Lukey, please stop whining" when her brother is crying.
