Mike's Page
This page doesn't really have any organization to it. It's just a repository for stuff about me except for running, which has its own page.
Also, check out my blog.

![]() For one magical afternoon, I got to play baseball at Anaheim Stadium, home of the Angels. Here I am playing right field, being featured on the Jumbo-Tron. Cool!
YAHOO! We love spending time at the Colorado River. In October 2001, my folks celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The five kids and their spouses all snuck into town and took them to a surprise celebratory dinner. Prior to that, however, we got together on a beautiful fall day and took some photos of the five kids... ...and one with spouses. I was born in San Diego, California, but I grew up in Northeast Ohio, hence my devotion to the Cleveland Indians. At left, my mom and I are sitting in the back yard, wondering if any ducks or geese would come by looking for a snack. Not a bad place to grow up, I'd say. The colors in Ohio during autumn are fantastic. In 2001, I had LASIK performed to correct my lousy vision. At left is a comparison of my vision before and after. I was almost legally blind, and now I can see 20/20. Many thanks to Dr. Michael Farley. I recommend this procedure highly! In 1996, we hiked to the top of Saddleback, our local mountain. I'd lived in Orange County for 11 years and had never done it. What's amazing is that the summit is 5600' - 400 feet higher than Denver! There's even snow up here during the winter. All this only minutes from the beach. It was a pretty challenging hike, with 4000' elevation gain in the 15 mile round-trip. All in all, it was quite worthwhile.
I really enjoy this photo. It was taken by my sister, Marcina, who was taking some photos for our engagement. We were at the beach (in November, I might add, for all of you back in the East), and came across the porta-potties. We couldn't resist being a little silly. What you can't tell from the photo is that we're both holding our breath! This is the engagement photo that we liked best. If you look *very* carefully, you can see the outline of Santa Catalina Island in the back. This is where we got engaged. I'd like to say that we planned this shot this way, but we didn't. Many thanks to my sister Marcina for her great photography.
